Dean Davidson (DD) is a well-known Canadian jewelry line with a studio based in downtown Toronto at 145 Berkeley St. Since launching in 2007, Davidson has become a celebrated designer and his creations have been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle. Today, the collection can be found in over 250 select boutiques and department stores across the globe. Dean Davidson was nominated for Accessory Designer of the Year at the 2016 and 2017 Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards.
The Position
Dean Davidson is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Jewelry Design Intern to join our Toronto studio for Summer 2026.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of jewelry design. As a Design Intern, you will work closely with our design and product development team to support the creation of new collections and assist with the organization of design assets and documentation.
You will gain hands-on experience in how jewelry collections move from initial inspiration and concept development through CAD and production preparation within a growing Canadian jewellery brand.
Founded in Toronto in 2007, Dean Davidson is known for modern sculptural jewellery and signature custom-cut gemstones. Our collections are sold online and through leading retailers across North America, and we operate our flagship boutique in Toronto. This internship offers a unique opportunity to see how a jewelry brand develops, refines, and launches collections in a fast-paced and collaborative studio environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development
- Assist with brainstorming sessions and concept development for upcoming collections
- Create mood boards and visual inspiration references for new designs
- Support the development of concept sketches and renders
Product Development Support
- Assist with preparing tech packs and specification sheets for production
- Support communication between design and product development teams
- Help track design updates and product changes throughout development
Design Organization
- Maintain and organize design files, CAD references, and creative assets
- Assist with preparing internal presentations and design documentation
Trend Research
- Research jewelry trends, materials, and design inspiration
- Translate research and market trends into visual mood boards and concept references
Skills & Highlights
- Strong hand-sketching and visual concept development skills
- Familiarity with 3D design software such as Rhino, Matrix, or similar programs
- Ability to translate ideas and research into mood boards and design concepts
- Interest in jewelry trends, materials, and product design
- Experience preparing or assisting with tech packs and specification sheets is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage creative files and references
- Detail-oriented with an appreciation for craftsmanship and design precision
- Comfortable working in a collaborative studio environment
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in Jewelry Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Accessories Design, or a related program with a mandatory or optional work-integrated learning component, such as a co-op or internship.
- Strong hand-sketching skills
- Familiarity with 3D design software (Rhino, Matrix, or similar programs) is an asset
- Experience with tech packs, spec sheets, or design documentation is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage creative files
- A strong interest in jewelry design, materials, and emerging trends
- Detail-oriented with a creative and collaborative mindset
Students currently enrolled in Jewelry Design or related programs at OCAD University, Sheridan College, George Brown College, and other design schools are encouraged to apply.
You must be enrolled in a Jewellery Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Accessories Design, or related post-secondary program with a mandatory or optional work-integrated learning component, such as a co-op or internship.
